The sticker price rarely tells you what a school actually costs. Compare two or three schools by net price, not sticker price, see your real borrowing, monthly payments, and whether your aid actually covers the cost.
These apply across all schools below. Federal and Parent PLUS rates are set by the government each year; check studentaid.gov for the current rate. Private loan rates vary by lender and credit.
This simplifies interest accrual: it assumes full loan balances start amortizing at graduation, and doesn't account for interest that accrues on unsubsidized, PLUS, or private loans while you're still in school. Real payoff amounts will typically be somewhat higher.
