How we collect, use, and protect information when you use financialconfidence.net.

Financial Confidence is operated by Financial Confidence, an Indiana sole proprietorship (“Financial Confidence,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through financialconfidence.net (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. It should be read together with our Disclaimer and Terms of Use.
This Policy covers information collected through the Site, including our lessons and Courses, blog, interactive calculators and worksheets (collectively, the “Tools”), and the optional account, progress-tracking, and certificate features described in Section 6. It does not cover information practices of third-party sites we link to, which are governed by those sites’ own policies.
Like most websites, the Site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, so we can see which lessons and Tools are helpful and where the Site needs improvement. Google Analytics automatically collects information such as your approximate location (typically city or region, derived from your IP address), device and browser type, pages viewed, time spent on the Site, and the site that referred you. This information is aggregated and is not used by us to identify you individually.
We do not currently use advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your information.
Separately from Google Analytics, the Site also logs certain usage information directly to our own database, so we can see which content and features are helping people even without a third-party analytics provider involved. This includes: which blog articles and informational pages (including this one) are opened and roughly how long the tab stays open; which calculator or worksheet a Tool session completes; search terms typed into the Site’s search bar and which result, if any, was clicked afterward; and which button (Facebook, email, copy link, or your device’s own share menu, described further in Section 9) is used to share a page, and which page it was.
Blog views, informational-page views, search activity, and share-button clicks are recorded anonymously — we do not attach your name, email, or account to this information, and have no way to use it to identify you. Tool completions are recorded the same way when you are not signed in. If you are signed in, a completed Tool is linked to your account internally so we can see, in aggregate only, patterns like how many signed-in users finish a given Tool; we do not display or export this broken out by name. This information is stored with Supabase, our database provider described further in Section 6, and is accessible only to Financial Confidence’s site owner.
Most of our calculators and worksheets run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter are used only to calculate the results shown on your screen and are never sent to us or stored on our servers.
Some Tools save what you enter in your browser’s local storage, so your entries are still there if you close the tab and come back later. This information stays on your own device. It is never transmitted to Financial Confidence or to any third party, and we have no ability to see, retrieve, or recover it. Tools that currently do this:
You can remove information saved by a Tool at any time by clearing your browser’s site data or cookies for financialconfidence.net, or by using the Tool’s own reset option if one is provided — for example, the Credit Improvement Roadmap includes a “Clear my data from this device” button that does this for you. As we add or update Tools, any Tool that saves information locally in your browser will be described here.
If you email us at hello@financialconfidence.net, we receive your email address and whatever else you include in your message. We use this only to respond to you and to keep a record of the correspondence.
If you create an account, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and password at sign-up, as described in the next section. If you sign up using an organization code provided to you by an employer or other organization partnered with Financial Confidence, we also collect that code, as described in Section 6. The Site does not currently offer newsletter signup or paid products, so we do not collect information for those purposes at this time. If that changes, this Policy will be updated first.
You do not need an account to read the Blog or use any Tool — those remain free and open to everyone. An account is only required to access our Courses (lessons and final exams) and to track your progress through them.

We use this information solely to operate the account, progress-tracking, and certificate features: authenticating you when you log in, calculating and displaying your progress, grading exams, and issuing certificates. We do not use your account information for advertising and do not sell it.
This data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, which acts as a data processor on our behalf and is bound by its own security and privacy commitments. Our database is configured with row-level security so that your account data (profile, progress, quiz history, and certificates) can only be read by your own signed-in account, not by other users, and exam answer keys are kept in a separate, locked-down location that no account, including yours, can read directly — exams are graded through a secure function that returns only your score, never the answer key.
A certificate of completion reflects that you passed a course’s final exam on our Site. It is not a professional license, credential, or accreditation, consistent with our Disclaimer.
Organization codes. Some employers and organizations partner with Financial Confidence to make the Site available to their members, and give those members a code to enter at sign-up. If you enter a valid organization code when you create your account, we link your account to that organization internally, and, as described in Section 9, we may report your course sign-up and completion status back to that organization so it can verify participation. Entering an organization code is optional; if you leave this field blank, or the code you enter is not recognized, your account is not linked to any organization. Being linked to an organization does not change what account information we collect, and the organization does not receive your password or gain the ability to log in as you.
Cookies are small files a site asks your browser to store. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions. If you have an account, our authentication provider also stores a session token in your browser so you stay signed in between visits; this token is used only to recognize your session and is not shared with advertisers. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent your visits from being included in Analytics. Blocking cookies may affect how some features of the Site behave, including staying signed in, though our Tools will still calculate correctly since they run in your browser regardless of cookie settings.
We use the information described above to operate and improve the Site, understand which Content and Tools are useful, diagnose technical problems, respond to messages sent to us, and — for account holders — authenticate you, track your course progress, grade exams, and issue certificates. We do not use it to make decisions about your eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another legally protected opportunity, and we ask that you not use the Site to make those decisions about anyone else, consistent with our Terms of Use.
We share aggregated analytics information with Google, which processes it on our behalf under Google’s own privacy terms, as our analytics provider. Account, progress, certificate, and the internal usage data described in Section 3 are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, as described in Section 6. If you signed up using a partner organization’s code, we may share your name, sign-up date, and course completion status with that organization, for the purpose of letting them verify their members’ participation and progress. We do not share your email address, password, quiz scores, or any information beyond course-level completion status with a partner organization, and we do not give partner organizations direct login access to the Site or to our database. If you click the “Share on Facebook” button on a Tool or blog post, the page’s web address is sent to Facebook to open its share dialog; what Facebook does with that address afterward is governed by Facebook’s own privacy policy, not ours. The Email, Copy Link, and device-share options next to it do not send anything to us or to a third party — they use your own email application, clipboard, or device’s built-in share menu. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Financial Confidence or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. The internal usage data described in Section 3 (blog and informational-page views, search activity, tool completions, and share-button clicks) is retained indefinitely in aggregate to track trends over time, since it is anonymous or, for signed-in tool completions, only ever reviewed in aggregate. Emails you send us are kept as long as reasonably needed to respond to and document the correspondence. Information saved locally by a Tool, such as the Debt Payoff Planner or the Credit Improvement Roadmap, remains in your browser until you clear it, clear your browser data, or use the Tool’s own reset option; we have no ability to retrieve or delete it for you since we never receive it. Account, progress, quiz, and certificate data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you request deletion of your account, we delete your profile, progress records, quiz history, and certificate records within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain information by law.
You can control cookies and site data through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics using the add-on linked above, and clear any information a Tool has saved locally by clearing your browser’s site data. If you have an account, you can un-mark individual lessons as complete at any time from within the lesson, and you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information by emailing hello@financialconfidence.net. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding personal information under applicable law; we will honor valid requests to the extent required.
The Site, including account creation, is not directed to children and is intended for users who meet the eligibility requirement in our Terms of Use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@financialconfidence.net so we can address it.
We use reasonable measures intended to protect information related to the Site, including relying on reputable hosting, database, authentication, and analytics providers. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us in readable form, and account data is protected by row-level security rules that limit access to your own signed-in account, as described in Section 6. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and we ask that you never enter Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, full payment-card information, or other sensitive data into the Site, including into your account profile.
The Site may link to third-party websites, products, or services. Those third parties have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of sites we do not operate.
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the Site, our practices, or applicable law. The “Last updated” date identifies the most recent revision. When required by law, or when a change is material, we will provide additional notice.
