Debt Payoff Planner

Add every debt you owe, then compare the snowball method, the avalanche method, what you're paying today, and your own priority order, side by side, down to the month each one disappears.

Understanding Your Four Options

Before you compare, here's what each strategy actually does with your money every month.

Current Payment Approach

Keeps doing exactly what you're doing today: every debt gets its own minimum payment, plus whatever extra you told us you're already sending it individually, with no rollover between debts. This is your baseline, what happens if nothing about your payments changes.

Debt Snowball

Every debt gets its minimum payment, then your extra budget goes entirely toward your smallest balance, regardless of interest rate. Once that debt is gone, its payment rolls into the next-smallest. Built around motivation: fast, visible payoffs keep you going, even if it costs a little more in interest.

Debt Avalanche

Every debt gets its minimum payment, then your extra budget goes entirely toward your highest interest rate, regardless of balance. Once that debt is gone, its payment rolls into the next-highest rate. Built around math: mathematically the fastest and cheapest way to become debt-free.

Your Own Order

Every debt gets its minimum payment, then your extra budget goes toward whichever debt you've placed first in the list below (use the ↑/↓ arrows to reorder), then the next in line once it's paid off. Use this when you have a personal reason to prioritize a specific debt that isn't about balance or rate, like one a family member co-signed.

1Your Debts

Add every credit card, loan, and balance you're carrying. Order doesn't matter here, except for the "Your Own Order" strategy, which follows the order below (use the arrows to rearrange).

2Your Extra Payment Budget

On top of all your minimum payments, how much extra can you put toward debt every month, in total? This powers the Snowball, Avalanche, and Your Own Order strategies below.

The "Current Payment Approach" below ignores this and instead uses whatever extra you told us you're already paying on each individual debt, with no rollover, exactly what happens if you keep doing what you're doing today.
